Joan is very straight-forward, sometimes brazenly so. In her stand-up, and her personal life. It’s a quality I respect about her, and one which is on display in her new doc

I first saw 8: The Mormon Proposition at The Sundance Film Festival and it is worth seeing again and again. It is getting extended standing ovations at many of the festivals it plays at and anyone feeling to criticize it should see it first. They will find as Variety’s review states: “8″ actually spends more time trying to humanize homosexuals than to demonize those who hate them.

I remember her when i was young on shows like merv griffin. she was always funny. she used to do a schtick about Edgar and catch me catch me!!! and then getting older and the husband saying I'm tired, can I catch you tomorrow?
then she reappeared in the 80's doing her thing on elizabeth taylor, how fat she was and all that. then e! and the red carpet.
but one time i was flying home from california on jet blue about five years ago, i think at the time they were the airline with televisions in the seats. I was watching some show joan rivers had done live somewhere, and was laughing my head off. tears running down my face, clutching at my stomach, doubled over howling!! I looked up and people were trying to get my attention, I thought, oh god, I'm making so much noise, i'm making a fool of myself here, but no, they wanted to know what channel i was watching! I gave them the channel number, and looked over the seats a few moments later and saw a sea of faces behind me on the plane, all laughing like crazy. Joan was particularly funny on this show, whatever it was, and very foul-mouthed...you knew it was all tongue in cheek because she was calling her daughter terrible names...it was awfully funny though, she was saying just the nastiest things about people but that laugh of hers after she'd say something, and say "it's true! it's true!" convincing you that she knew and knew that you knew that it wasn't really true. Can't wait to see this movie, thanks for the review...

that taylor lautner is very good looking, but not so uncommon here in miami. I hope to see more of him though. this movie was not as good as the first one. they should have stuck with the original director. but you are right, it's better than some of those higher brow 'films' that the critics always talk up. Broken embraces bored me and my husband who really goes in for Pedro almodovar.
